Wild Leek Seeds
Plant these in with hardwoods, after rain in autumn or early spring and start establishing wild leeks in a forest near you. Wild leeks have a seven year seed to seed growth cycle so it can take some time to get them growing in abundance. Each package has roughly 25-30 seeds in it and where hand harvested by Jonathan Forbes from wild leeks we planted over 12 years ago in a new mixed forests. These are not suitable for consumption, please do not eat the seeds. Cultivating wild leeks takes patience, the first year they come up they put down roots, sometimes you will see a slight hair or thin leaf but in many cases you wont see anything until the second year. The key thing is to scatter them in autumn or late winter, under forest leaf litter, when it is wet out. Wild leeks have a seven year seed to seed growth cycle, so it can take a few years for your patches to become established. Once you have reintroduced wild leeks into a forest you can practice progressive harvesting methods by only taking 10% of your private patch per year, and by rotating areas you harvest. And remember to spread seeds in the fall. It is never too late to start seeding a forest near you. If you have suitable access to a hardwood bush and require more please leave us a note!!! each pack contains between 25-30 seeds*****These are not suitable for consumption. Do not eat
