Jellied Salal
This jelly is made from handpicked ripe, luscious, nearly black berries of the shrub salal berries (Gaultheria shallon), which grows abundantly along B.C.'s forested coast. Salal berries have a distinctive honey and earthy taste that some describe as a cross between blueberry and blackcurrant. It’s superb slathered inside a fresh croissant, blended into smoothies, or spread on crêpes or pancakes.
